Forum under attack from Russian hackers

The forum has been bombarded with DDoS and hundreds of fake account attempts over the past couple of days. What makes this interesting is that my forum records the IP addresses of accounts created and out of the 100s of fake accounts there has not been one that used the exact same IP address. This probably means it's a botnet system doing this.

Crap like this is why I have those annoying verification steps in registration and need to manually verify each account. If you don't answer the questions correctly the account is deleted. I'm also in the process of banning large ranges of Russian IP addresses from the entire server.

PLEASE let me know if you received any spam messages or see any crap on this forum other than the usual crap. I've always been extra cautious about this sort of thing but you never know with these assholes.

I had to add an extra step to registering and (hopefully) blocked a whole series of IP address and email address domain extensions. This appears to be part of the larger global botnet attack that hit over the past week that targeted millions of websites and businesses. None of the account got past the registration phase and none were allowed access to the forum.

Besides the 2nd verification step I have blocked the following domain extensions from being used in creating a user account:
