Someone posted the category, so I figured that there ought to be a thread.
As these games get better they also get more addictive. Granted, in the late 1980's I used to spend the night after Second Shift playing Ultima III on my Commodore 64 until the sun came up...
With Diablo II I had 6 accounts, mostly for "mules" - characters created just for gear storage. After they updated to 1.10 I had to find something different. I tried Runescape, but skills building was too repetative and the game was too cartoonish. I then tried Shadowbane which I enjoyed except for the huge lag and disconnect problems. As these problems had been with the game for the last 3 years since its inception I gathered that there was never going to be a "fix" for them.
World of Warcraft has been one of the most hyped MMORPG's ever, with some good reason. The gaming powerhouse that is Blizzard Entertainment was behind it. While there are some minor lag issues (mostly in the larger cities) the game has been extremely enjoyable to play. With only a limited choice of Trade Skills (2 max of about 9 choices) and 3 base skills (fishing, cooking, first aid) for each "toon" less time is spent developing skills and more time spent completing quests. With the improved banking system and the ability to mail items to other "toons" on the same server the need for mules is eliminated.
well, that's my 2? worth.
