This probably only applies to the techs working at this location, but if anyone knows the answer to my question please chime in!
East Granby, CT A-10 Sims.
How is the location as far as management?
How many shifts? And is there shift differential?
How many Techs?
Cost of living too high or is housing affordable?
Are your sims new or upgrades if so is this a Flightsafety sim or thales sim?
What type of visual system and IG do you guys have?
Is this a contract, if it is how many years are left on the contract?
Are you guys union?
How many training devices?
Thanks for any answers to my questions and happy holidays. If you would like please email me at TriggrP12@<hidden>

I don?t have any knowledge of the operation in East Granby, but I can tell you a bit about A-10 simulators. I worked on two of the devices for six years (?82-?88) while stationed at DMAFB.
The sims are of late 1970?s vintage and manufactured by Reflectone. At the time I worked on them, they were equipped with the following:
3 SEL/Gould 32/55 computers
Graphic7 based IOS
Fokker analog control loading
Vital 4 single channel visual (The DMAFB sims were the only devices equipped with visual systems)
The A-10 sim was relatively simple to work on. The I/O was very straightforward, nothing magic, and very typical of late ?70s digital technology. The documentation/schematics for the trainers was outstanding!
The machine did have its problems though?
The AAI conceived electronic warfare subsystem was a friggin? nightmare to work on. As mentioned elsewhere on this forum, very disgruntled survivors of the Roswell UFO crash no doubt designed the system. The goofy ?simulated G force? modified ACESIII ejection seat was also pain in the ass to work on. The seat was a hydraulic/pneumatic disaster that never really simulated anything more than a mediocre ass and back massage. Unless of course you also happened to have the lap belt snapped around your waist, in which case, you also experienced your lunch mechanically forced up your throat.
Hope this information was helpful!

Cost of living too high or is housing affordable? jimi1:Make sure to get a COLA on top of the salary they offer, I loved it there but the cost is through the window and you might as well be living in a foreign country for cost.
Are your sims new or upgrades if so is this a Flightsafety sim or thales sim? upgraded old sims
What type of visual system and IG do you guys have? it worksshocked:
Is this a contract, if it is how many years are left on the contract? 2010

How many training devices? last I heard when I was up there it was single unit.
Best luck you will need it
I thought the 104th at Barnes was going to get F-15s ? The A-10 has been there for years. Is the current contract with LMS ? This is a real nice area. Pricey, but what isn't in the NorthEast!
