Asyou may know, in the UK we are currently undergoing a debate about the need for ID cards.
The government says they are needed for a whole raft as reasons, but will cost up to ?100 ( $170 ) per person.

I used to carry an ID with the air force, carry one to get into work, but do I want all my infomation pulled together with one card.

if anyone remebers Terry Gilliams' film Brazil, then you will know what happens when the system goes wrong.

Given that our sytem is being touted as a model for the rest of the nations thinking of this, the US most notably, how do you all feel?

Hummm..

I could see a civil war in the US the way things are carrying on.
The next step would be RFID implants for everyone. Paranoia maxed out. Liberty and freedom crushed.

So when you order your pizza in the next 5 years, the conversation may go something like this (click to watch).. http://www.freedomtofascism.com/video/pizza.html

reading the book revelations from the bible, and the beast will bare the mark 666.

this has been used many times to predict the end of days, but, if for $150USD, i can get my dog injected with a chip that gives them all his AND my information, how long can it be before I will need to get one?. better than an id card, can't loose it, it won't wear out from use, the scanners are cheap, and it can be incorporated into any entry way or door, etc.
the one sticky wicket is american's are still a bit rebellious, ever since we found our independence early on, so we'll most likely be the last to fall.

Yeah, but what scared the livin$h!t out of me was the information that can be called up about you, wherever you go or whatever you order on the phone and can be easily policed and bit by bit, by stealth or not, legislation will creep in and rule your life and you will be told what you can do and when you can do it along with what you cannot do - sounds all too familiar, an Orwellian State maybe or something much worse and sinister?

Whaaaa...
I may also be an omnivore, but I am a little more discriminating about hygene and cooking. Hummmm, I prefer to wear clothes rather than cloths, I also need somewhere I can plug in my hair-dryer.

Nope, looks like you are on your own. Have fun.

Hey Pirate,

We can time share! You, and your family can come share my cave on the southern border during the winter, and me-n-mine will come see you in the summer. After all; we will all be retired at that point.

We can coordinate on the calibers, and gages so we don't have to backpack extra ammo.

Simmi,

You can stay at my cave in the summer. The average midday temp is 101F.
You won't need your hair dryer. Hope you like rattlesnake and jackrabbit.

texas snake is too spicy for me, i prefer pine rattlers and grass rattlers that get dried in alfalfa hay from further north.
P.S. do i need a passport for southern texas like i do here in south florida?
PPS, 9mm, 12ga 3"mag, 30-06, and 45 long colt, and 54 cal sabot's w/ lots of powder and caps.

also, don't get the idea i'm not an animal lover, i love animals, cause they taste so good!!

Now that you mention it. As of Jan. 07, you will need a passport to return from Mexico. This is for ALL. Even if the wife and I go across for dinner, we will need to show a passport to re enter the U.S.

I don't use 45 LC, but I will stock some for you. Pls put in some 30-30 at your location for me. The rest of the inventory will work fine.

I agree with you on the Texas snake meat. It just doesn't have that good frog flavor like the Georgia rattlesnake I grew up on.

I am a firm supporter of PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals)

Wenn diese papieren are nicht von a teksass ausweis, else it von der oo-ess-offay ist. Dann alle in ordnung ist. - enter....

Roughly translated means that; when the paspport is of US origin and not an ID from "a techs ass", erm, or is that "a texas ID"... Then everything is in order and you can enter..

For those who don't speak the lingo, it says.
Your mother ran off with the plumber and your dinner is in the dog.
Haha..

Seriously, after having received your ID card then later, if anyone would get chipped, your liberty would be immediately cancelled and your constitutional rights trashed right before your eyes. Hiding in a cave would do little to change things, no matter what language you speak or where on this globe you are situated. It will be the start of a dark chapter in human history. Possibly the darkest. Burrying your head in a cave would do little, where as your vote and your voice should be the only real deal, not some whoop-ass power crazy paranoide lynch mob hell bent on war, world domination and its destruction and that breaks all the rules and does not listen to the people they serve because they say they know what's best for the people..

OK, deep intake of breath, sermon over.. sleep mode in 3 mins...

the cave entrance is actually a good defendable position, as it is a restricted entry, and no roof to crash through, and can be closed if there are too many.
as the sign will again say on the entrance, "survivors will be procecuted." and "don't worry about the dogs, beware of owner." this is actually plan b, if community action and 2008 elections don't work, when everything is made in china/india/etc., and the people revolt, roman style, the cave is the 2000's version of my bomb shelter.boggle: emo_raise purplex: petrified

Not the Hanau that's just down the road from me? get away...
I live just north of Frankfurt airport. And soon to move to Munich (which next to Amsterdam, is one of my two favourite cities), I'll be staying for a months vacation or so, then moving on to lovely historic Vienna, Austria. BTW, Frankfurt sucks.

That would be the one... Amsterdam is a great town (dated a girl up there for about a year, lots of good times). Always had a good time in the Munich area as well. As I lived in the Frankfurt area for so long I knew where to go. Used to be a great pub called the Jazz Keller, sorry don't remember the address but ask around someone might know it. I moved back to the US in 99, haven't been back since. I really need to take a vacation over there. Closes I've come is Crawley England (going there this Sunday for a week).

Crawley urgh: ... I can think of better places.. I guess your going to Thales or GECAT or one of the many other Sim sites and facilities around the area?

If you have never before been there, you can either get the local train to Brighton or London to get some nightlife. Brighton is 30 or so mins by car, don't bother with a car getting into London, it's a hellish route from Crawley.

Used to go to Skeggy(Skegness). But that was in the winter, and it was to either the darts competitions, or else just a weekend drive to do something,i.e. visit Lincoln,Boston, etc. Still loved it.

I myself am partial to the barcode across the forehead. If done with the proper balance of gray / brown, and large enough, it could make up for that receeding hairline of mine.

And scanning myself at Wal-Mart for a price check or bank balance would be soooooo convenient.
