There's been a rash of fake users being created and posting more spam garbage. It's not just on this forum as there's been many complaints from other forum owners.

Because of this ongoing problem, I have decided to ban the use of any @<hidden> email address as well as any domain that ends in .ru.

And to the shithead that keeps creating new (fake) accounts and posting the spams: I am the one that wrote to the webhosting firms and got your accounts disabled for illegal spamming.

i think the .ru comes from either republic of uganda, or a prior soviet block country, as i get these in my spam files on gmail at about 10-20 a day. most are the old "AFRICAN ROYALTY NEEDS TO DEPOSIT 350,00 DOLLARS IN YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT SCAM", but most are just random words that get by the spam filters. FYI.nono: nono:

.ru is from Russia. I know, my wife is Russian and she surfs a lot of Russian sites. I guess that I should go and check her spam filter and see what she is getting. I have educated her about the guy that died in 19XX and there is x millions they want to transfer to your account. A lot of the names I see as senders are Arab names and most like you say are from Nigeria or Angola. I sometimes respond to them about what they could do with some bacon.

I get a lot of those and some of my other email accounts... a couple of times a month on average. I have fun with those as well before getting their accounts disabled. Those are called Nigerian Scam Spams or 419 Scams. Another common criminal trick is the ol' "Your account has been suspended, please verify your PayPal (or bank card) information".

A lot of people fall prey to those emails... which is why they are so popular even after so many years of being out there.

The most popular countries that spam come out of are China (.cn) Russia (.ru), Czech Republic (.cz) and lately a couple of main servers out of Mexico (.mx) and Turkey (.tr).
