Position Summary - Ensure that all simulators and associated training devices are maintained to the highest possible standard and are fit for training.

Principal Responsibilities - General
1. Meet and debrief crew.
2. Assist and advise customers and training instructors to ensure maximum benefit from training time.
3. Carry out daily readiness/quality check and sign off simulator as 'fit for training'.
4. Preparation of ground school equipment and carry out a daily readiness check.
5. Ensure technical logs, job cards and simulator information boards accurately reflect status of the simulators.
6. Monitor Technical Log entries and assess what corrective actions, spares, instruments etc are required, ensuring items are available.
7. Ensure that all technical log entries are cleared on a daily basis through corrective action or by raising a Job Card.
8. Monitor the status of outstanding job cards.
9. Clear open Job Cards as time and resources allow and in priority order as directed.
10. Carry out preventative maintenance as instructed/required.
11. Request spares, monitoring delivery progress until received.
12. Repair unserviceable Line Replacement Units (LRU's).
13. Brief counterpart engineering staff on the status of the simulator during shift handover.


Qualifications Required
1. Minimum of 2 years simulator experience.
2. Team player.
3. Energetic and enthusiastic with the ability to energise and influence others.
4. Able to work on own initiative and have the ability to handle multiple priorities.
5. Good communication skills.
6. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
7. Must be a citizen of the UK or legally authorised to work in the UK.

I think it is mostly down to competition, you now have Alteon and CAE training sites very close to GECAT, and also Flight Safety down at Farnborough, there just isnt enough people to go around. I've worked at GECAT and had no complaints...

I know guys who have worked at GECAT and have lots of complaints!

Ask the ones who worked at the Heathrow centre till they were all made redundant or moved.

I can only comment on what it was like when I worked there, and I agree redundancy is something nobody wants forced apon them....

I'm getting around late to this thread, but I must ask, what's the word "redundant" mean? Obviously, I know the dictionary definition, but when you say that they (workers) were made redundant, I'm missing something. dunce:

In a nut shell; To be laid off with no hope of a call back, forced to retire, dismissed because your job has been outsourced etc.

Or do one of our Engish friends have a better definition.

Nope, not really. It just about sums it all up.
