If anyone has experience on the F-14 sims, I need help.

I am helping to install some cockpits into the National Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola, Florida. I would like to hook up the seat adjustment motors, but I am not sure what voltage they require. The actuator looks virtually impossible to remove without dismantling half of the cockpit. I am pressed for time and would rather find someone who knows the voltage requirement. I do not have any maintenance drawings to work with.

Is it 110VAC? 400hz? 28Vdc?.. I sure hope one of you can answer this.

Thanks,

P.S. I think that these cockpits came from NAS Oceana.

Never mind, I figured it out.

It was a Martin-Baker actuator from a MK. GRU-7(A) seat. It requires 28VDC at 5A peak. I had to completely remove and disassemble the seat to get to the actuator.

For anyone who may be rebuilding or restoring one of these, The Blue wire is common, the orange moves the seat up and the yellow moves it down.

Thanks all,

Hi Art, I spent 23 years at Oceana working on the F-14's. Had to swap out that motor a few times, definately a pain especially if it fails at the bottom of travel. When that occured we would jack the seat to the top of travel from below then there were 2 bolts that could be removed at the top of the seat and pins that could be slid out allowing the seat to be leaned foreward to reach the motor. The first time was definately a learning experiance. If I can be of any help with info feel free to drop me an e-mail. DWireman@<hidden>

Good luck, Dave
