EAGAN, Minn., July 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Northwest Airlines said today that it has reached a tentative contract agreement with its flight simulator technicians, represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM).

"We are pleased to have reached an agreement with the IAM covering our flight simulator technicians. This is the final group with which we were negotiating for permanent wage and benefit reductions," said Mike Becker, senior vice president of human resources and labor relations.

Our SIMTECH members voted Tuesday, July 25 on the Tentative Agreement reached with Northwest Airlines on July 18, 2006 and ratified the agreement by 57%. District 143 would like to thank our SIMTECH negotiators for all their dedication during this process.
With the ratification and signing of this last agreement, all IAM groups have ratified agreements with Northwest Airlines.

Voting results of the tentative agreement reached between IAM District 143 Flight Simulator Technicians and Simulator Support Specialists (SIMTECH) and Northwest Airlines on July 18, 2006 and voted on July 25, 2006 are as follows:
Yes: 57%
No: 43%
District 143 would like to thank our SIMTECH negotiators for all their dedication during this process and thanks to the District 143 staff for their extreme efficiency in making sure copies of the tentative agreement were quickly in the hands of SIMTECH members for review.
With the ratification and signing of this last agreement, all IAM groups have ratified agreements with Northwest Airlines.

We did a LOT better than anyone else in our union. It pays to hold out and to have a stubborn negotiator who won't take any bullshit!

The new contract is a concessionary one, so there's nothing really good about it.
Pay cuts
lose 2 holidays
lose 1 week vacation per year
medical and dental changes
1% pay raises
some language issues
etc...

And the contract goes into 2012.
