View Full Version : FMS Database 30 Day Grace Period Rescinded
Has anyone else been told that the 30 day grace period for FMS databases being out of date has been rescinded? Our inspector just informed us that they have no longer allow this. And he indicated that there will not be any official announcement.
BTW - Anyone know which document previously noted it as acceptable?

The only thing I remember was get a letter from the FAA on a case by case, I don't know if it was ever an official across the board.

No official announcement forthcoming !!!lolhit:

Here is the link to the NSP bulletins.

I have a pdf version of bulletin 01-05, which is not on the NSP web site that I could find, gave us the extra time. It is “signed’ by Dr. Cook, should not get any better than that. But I cannot attach it at 225K. Andy any suggestions?
There is one other bulletin that was rescinded, but is still on the site. I wonder if this “bulletin” was written, but then never released. My ex-manager gave me the hard copy, not sure where he got it from. I thought I saw it on the bulletins, but have slept since then. Has anyone contacted the NSP with this bulletin number? screwy:
Breaking news at NSP : Charles Spilner has retired as the NSP manager as of July 28, 2006. Chip Reahard is Acting NSP manager.

Thanks Andy!
Here is the scan arms:
Don't know where you got that but boy is it interesting. Thanks. Now the only question left is why the darn thing is hidden from view only to hammer us on recurrents???
After 9/11 the FAA ,ie. NSP, issued this letter ,or at least was suppose to ,to all training centers. I guess now they feel that evereyone ,includung the airlines, are making tons of money so they can afford to keep these updated. huh4:
Got the word from the top that they figured the grace period had served its purpose. It was never meant to be permanent; that fact unfortunately just wasn't known by all.
ANyone have any idea how much it costs for a subscription to kep the FMC's updated ? I would think it would be the client's responsibility to keep the navdata base current. Any thoughts ?
Airlines have it covered anyway. With 3rd party training centers I've worked in, it falls to the owner or sponsor; unless a customer volunteers. Although I have seen customers come in with their own and not share, too.
It's the law of the land. Build it into the business plan. Could be low to mid 5 figures, depending on what you order.
