Senior Technical Support Engineer
I am responsible for maintaining, analysing malfunctions, repair, calibration, inspection, and operating in all aspects for the FMS (full mission simulator)Which is a 6 axis hyd motion system. PC based system(which uses windows 2000 and 2000xp). I carry out hardware and software upgrades, as well as teaching procedures, which are, updated constantly, the visual which is SGI based and runs the software(C++)space magic/Thales view, the operating systems are UNIX/IRIS,FORTRAN based languages. I have recently been placed in charge of the CPT(cockpit trainer)in readiness for a system upgrade.
I am also required to carry out low power testing and have the telephone system as part of my duties for internal and external communications. I also carry out liaison between ourselves and the customer at front desk level on the FMS. In my capacity as technical support I am called upon to make decisions, for the customer and for Thales in all aspects of my job. I am also the tool controller which responsibilities include all Test equipment, SSD(static sensitive devices),heavy lift equipment, tools.

ABILITIES:
As a Shift supervisor in my present position I am called on to make many decisions concerning the personnel and the simulator throught out my shift. As technical rating with the Royal Navy in a position of rank I was responsible for a team of Avionic ratings and their welfare.
