POSITION PROFILE:
? As part of the CS&T Technical Services group, this incumbent is responsible for all software engineering and integration activities at the Bombardier Aerospace Training Center (BATC).
? Responsible for the overall health of the simulator-type being maintained, and is concurrently aware of all major activities and initiatives in the maintenance aspect of the department.
? In addition to serving as a coach and technical reference for the entire department, the incumbent makes decisions and recommendations on technical issues and exercises initiative in following up customer-related concerns at a device-type level.
TYPICAL TASKS INCLUDE:
? Perform and debug software changes that become necessary to clear logbook defects (20%).
? Address unusual problem situations and deficiencies on the flight simulator and resolve them in a cost-effective manner (20%).
? Code and integrate projects as directed by Bombardier engineering to keep commonality with the aircraft-type (10%).
? Provide coaching and internal training to technicians to enable cross-training and optimal product familiarity (10%).
? Run and thoroughly review and present QTGs for all regulatory agencies as appropriate (10%).
? Maintain customer specific options and configurations (10%).
? Maintain correct software configuration control on the FFS/FTD/CATS/ST (Systems Trainer) systems and provide regular software difference listings and snag status for these devices (5%).
? Review the documentation and justification for any corrected software deficiencies or CAE-originated software modifications and ensure that the appropriate software modification forms are duly completed (5%).
? Review the CATS/ST classroom deficiency logbooks and validating and assigning the appropriate priorities (2%).
? Install periodic updates to the navigation and FMS databases and visual database alignment (2%).
? Assist CAE?s engineering in present and future update programs on all simulators (2%).
? coordinating the software module transfer process to ensure CATS system is up-to-date (2%).
? performing readiness checks and preventative/corrective maintenance tasks including necessary software backups (2%).
QUALIFICATIONS:
? Technical college degree with three to four years of experience in a training center environment or an engineering degree with one to two years of CAE experience.
? Good understanding of hardware/software interaction in a flight simulator environment.
? Knowledge and experience with debugging and analyzing simulator software tools.
